It's more casual in the respect that one misstep doesn't blow the game, which is good since you will be forced to make a guess when dungeon elements force your decision on what tiles you can uncover. That's where the dungeon crawling side of game comes into play. Enemy placement and exits in the levels are random each time and a nice roster of characters makes it fun to replay. Sometimes levels will even have special curses on them too, changing the rules every once in a while. Great casual fun game to chill out to.. It's with reluctance that I'm passing on this one. It's a rogue-like minesweeper with fabulous artwork.My problem is there is no way to really win the game.Your quest is to find a dead man's rotting testicles.Yes, you heard me right. You'll see them served on a platter...Every time you start the game on that long loading screen.And when you finally find his sexual organs, they levitate away.Tell me, what incentive is there for chasing after a pair of runaway testicles?I guess hemorrhoids just weren't disgusting enough.. Years ago, I ran across a very simple minesweeper with rpg elements on Kongregate and it was really enjoyable but it was lacking in depth and replayability. Ever since then, I've really wanted a minesweeper rpg game that was more fully realilzed.Finally, years later (8 or 9 years, to be specific), I stumbled across this game and it looked like what I had been wanting. I was also hesitant, though, since there have been other games I ran across that talked about being a mashup of minesweeper and an rpg that always seemed to not do it well. But I had to know, so I bought it. At the time of writing this review, I've put 36.9 hours into the game (owned for almost two weeks) and it does the mashup well.There are multiple classes, each with a different playstyle. There are a variety of spells you can find which makes each run potentionally different simply based off the spells available to you. And it has a good difficulty curve - by that, I mean, the first ten floors are easy enough for people to get the hang of the game and then by the 20th floor, it's rough. I've made it to the 28th floor. So it gets proper roguelike hard and RNG is always a factor in .. well, most roguelikes, and it's no different here.The game, for me, creates that "One more time..." urge when I die. So replayability is definitely there. The one thing that I've seen people comment about, and I'll assume it's true for the sake of this review, is that the game doesnt't have an ending. Which, if true, there is one weird mechanic, since it only really makes sense if there is an 'ending' - where you find a relic and then are tasked with taking it with you to the next floor - and so on and so on. If the game is a high score chaser, then I don't know how the relic plays into things.But that's not really a big issue for me. If you NEED an ending in a game, then a high score chaser that potentionally has no ending, might be a problem for you. Otherwise, I highly recommend if the idea of a roguelike minesweeper mashup sounds interesting.. One of my favorite games. I'm slightly addicted and keep trying just one more round cause I'm sure I can get deeper into the dungeon....
